Battle about Facebook post leaves four dead in Bangladesh
In any event four individuals were killed and around 50 harmed on Sunday in conflicts with police in Bangladesh over a Facebook post that outraged Muslims, authorities said.
The conflicts in the southern locale of Bhola, 195km from the capital Dhaka, broke out when irate groups challenged a Facebook post in which a Hindu apparently made disparaging comments about Islam’s Prophet Mohammad.
Police said the Facebook had really been hacked and every one of the programmers had been confined.
“We shot empty shell shots in self-protection when a few people began tossing stones at our officials driving us to take cover in a structure,” said Sarkar Mohammad Kaisar, Superintendent of Police in Bhola.
Four individuals were executed and a police officer endured projectile injuries during the conflict, he said. Fringe protects and extra police have been sent to Bhola.
